In February 2011, the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) agreed to a new Council System consisting of Standing Councils, Select Councils, and Legislative and Governance Fora. On 17 September 2011, COAG withdrew the remit of the Australian Transport Council and replaced it with the Standing Council on Transport and Infrastructure. The inaugural meeting of the Standing Council was held on Friday, 4 November 2011. A copy of the Communiqué from the meeting can be found at www.scoti.gov.au.
